On Saturday 6th July 2019, Fife Pride returned to Kirkcaldy for its third year — and the atmosphere was bigger, bolder, and more powerful than ever. By now a firm fixture in Fife’s summer calendar, Pride 2019 brought record crowds to the streets, uniting LGBTQIA+ people and allies for a day filled with joy, visibility, and community pride.
The day began with our iconic Pride Parade, setting off at 12 noon from Carlyle Road, next to Fife College, St Brycedale campus, and winding its way through the town centre to the festival site at Kirkcaldy Town Square. The full route was:
- 11:45am – Assembly at Fife College, St Brycedale campus
- 12:00 noon – Parade leaves Carlyle Road
- Crosses Hunter Place
- Travels down Kirk Wynd
- Turns right into the High Street (pedestrian zone)
- Continues along the High Street
- Turns right at Whytescauseway
- Enters Wemyssfield, arriving at the Town Square

Leading the way were the Kirkcaldy Pipe Band, proudly piping us through the town, followed by the amazing Cowdenbeath Majorettes — bringing energy, rhythm, and sparkle to the route. And of course, we were joined by a whole host of local groups, campaigners, organisations, and allies — all marching together in solidarity and celebration. Who else was with us? The people of Fife, standing proud.
The festival then ran from 1:30pm to 8:00pm, filling the square with live music, drag, dancing, community stalls, and activities for all ages. New for 2019, the main stage was hosted by the brilliant April Adamás, who brought charisma, humour, and heart to the day.
The line-up featured a fantastic mix of talent, including Stevie McCrorie, Amy Lou & The Monday Club, ABBA tribute favourites ABBFAB, and Kirkcaldy’s very own Billy Reekie, who lit up the stage in front of his hometown crowd.
Fife Pride 2019 was more than a celebration — it was a statement of belonging, love, and local pride. It showed that in Fife, LGBTQIA+ people are visible, valued, and never alone. With every year, the message grows stronger: Pride is for everyone, and Fife is proud to show it.
