Fife Pride 2018 – Bigger, Bolder, and Brighter

On Saturday 7th July 2018, Fife Pride returned to Kirkcaldy for its second year — and it came back even bigger, bolder, and brighter. Building on the momentum of the inaugural event, Fife Pride 2018 brought thousands of LGBTQIA+ people and allies together for a joyful day of visibility, pride, and community.

The day kicked off with a lively parade at 12 noon, beginning at Carlyle Road beside Fife College’s St Brycedale campus. From there, it travelled through the town centre — led by the Kirkcaldy Pipe Band and Cowdenbeath Majorettes. The full route was:

  • 11:45am – Assembly at Fife College, St Brycedale campus
  • 12:00 noon – Parade leaves Carlyle Road
  • Crosses Hunter Place
  • Travels down Kirk Wynd
  • Turns right into the High Street (pedestrian zone)
  • Continues along the High Street
  • Turns right at Whytescauseway
  • Enters Wemyssfield, arriving at the Town Square

The parade finished at Kirkcaldy Town Square, where the festival continued until 8:00pm. The streets were filled with cheers, rainbow flags, music, and a spirit of joy and resistance. Hosted once again by the fabulous Nancy Clench, the main stage featured an outstanding line-up of performers, including Michelle McManus, X Factor participants The CutkelvinsAllan Jay, and the ever-popular tribute group Abba Gold, delivering show-stopping performances to a packed and vibrant crowd.

More than just a day of entertainment, Fife Pride 2018 was a powerful reminder of why Pride matters — especially in local communities. It reaffirmed the message that LGBTQIA+ people in Fife deserve visibility, respect, and joy, right on their doorstep. The event embodied the spirit of fairness, social justice, and love, offering a platform for voices too often unheard. With more attendees, louder voices, and greater reach, the second Fife Pride helped establish a lasting legacy of celebration, solidarity, and grassroots action. Fife has Pride — and it’s here to stay.
