After more than three years apart, Fife Pride finally returned in person in 2022 — reimagined, rescheduled, and bigger than ever. Originally planned for July, the event was postponed due to post-pandemic supplier challenges, but the team worked tirelessly to make sure Pride came back safely, accessibly, and joyfully later in the year. On Saturday 17th September, the Lang Toun came alive with colour, music, activism, and unity.
The day began with our powerful and joyful Pride March, led by the Kirkcaldy Pipe Band, which stepped off from Fife College’s St. Brycedale campus at 12 noon. Winding through the heart of Kirkcaldy, the march brought the town to a standstill in the best way — with flags waving, music playing, and people of all ages standing proudly for equality, inclusion, and visibility. The parade finished in Kirkcaldy Town Square, where the main festival kicked off.

From 12:30pm to 8pm, the Square was transformed into a buzzing Pride village, with a full afternoon of live entertainment on the main stage outside the Town House. The day was hosted by Fife’s own drag queen April Adamás, and featured a showstopping lineup of local and national talent, including:
- Just the Brave
- Bev Lyons
- Benji (from Rvrse)
- The Passing Sages
- Tina Cousins
- Call It Rooted
- Rozie Cheeks
- Jo Crawford
- Easy Ride
- and many more!
Adding a playful edge throughout the site, street theatre performances from SURGE Theatre and local creatives entertained and surprised audiences with interactive and spontaneous Pride moments.
Fife Pride 2022 wasn’t just about entertainment — it was about community spaces and connection.
- The brand-new Youth Zone at The Hive, Fife’s LGBT+ Centre, provided a safe and fun environment for young people to celebrate.
- A calming Quiet Zone was also available throughout the day at Grain and Sustain on Tolbooth Street.
- A fully licensed marquee bar added to the festival atmosphere in the Town Square.
- Over two dozen community stalls filled the site with information, support, services, and rainbow retail.
Participating organisations included:
Scottish Bi+ Network, Greener Kirkcaldy, The Hive, Festival Pride, Co-op, DAPL Fife, Fighting With Pride, Humanist Society Scotland, KAOS, Andy’s Man Club, Scottish Courts & Tribunal Service, St Andrew’s Children’s Society, Transgender Fife, Fly Collars & Gifts, Somewhere For Us, and many more.
The day was joyful — but also powerful.
“People come to Pride for many reasons — to celebrate, to feel safe, to protest. The rise in hate speech, especially against our trans siblings, reminds us that Pride is still needed. Fife Pride gives our community visibility, joy, and a platform for change. We’re especially proud to be bringing Jo O’Meara to headline the day — after the last couple of years, we all deserve a party!”
– Paul Murray, Fife Pride Secretary
Fife Pride 2022 was made possible with the support of our brilliant sponsors: Aegon, Sky, Fife Council, and Fife Voluntary Action.
Thousands of people joined us to fill the streets of Kirkcaldy with music, activism, laughter, and (biodegradable) sparkles. Whether you came to dance, to march, or to simply feel part of something — you were part of something unforgettable.
Fife Pride 2022 was more than just a return. It was a reminder: we’re still here, we’re still proud — and we’re only just getting started.
