Fife Pride 2017 – Our First Ever Pride

On Saturday 1st July 2017, Fife made history with its first ever Pride event — a vibrant, joyful, and deeply meaningful celebration of LGBTQIA+ life in the Kingdom. Taking place in the heart of Kirkcaldy, the event brought hundreds of people together in an unforgettable display of colour, music, and unity.

Hosted by the fabulous Nancy Clench, Dunfermline’s Dame, the day began with a lively parade at 1:00pm, filling the streets with rainbow flags, cheers, and a sense of hope. The celebrations continued with a full festival in Kirkcaldy Town Square from 1:30pm to 8:00pm, transforming the town centre into a safe and inclusive space for all.

The main stage featured a show-stopping line-up, including Tina CousinsKym MazelleNick Shane & Soul TVLloyd Daniels, and Ross Alexander, who delivered an afternoon of unforgettable performances.

But Fife Pride 2017 was more than a one-day festival. It gave LGBTQIA+ people across Fife a platform to be seen, heard, and celebrated in their own community for the very first time. It was a day of love, courage, and connection — and it laid the foundation for every Pride we’ve celebrated since. The spirit of that first event still inspires everything we do today.
